Quick links to good deals:
Coupons Always do a quick check for current coupons at
retailmenot.com before you complete a checkout at any merchant.
Computer Equipment I tend to buy things
at
http://newegg.com because
their prices are good and they have great customer service.
Computer Memory http://www.crucial.com/
is the place to go.
Cables of all types http://www.monoprice.com is the winner by far - retail outlets mark up cables 100-800% all the time.
Asian teas (green, white, oolong, pu-erh, baozhong, herbal, teapots, etc)
Generation Tea has a massive selection and great prices.
Black tea and herbal tea there is nobody better than
http://www.stashtea.com
Eyeglasses Yes you can get great cheap eyeglasses off the net. My last two pairs came from:
Optical4less.com in Hong Kong - great experiance.
Wine there are a variety of place, I tend to check out
http://wine.woot.com each week to see what kind of deal they have going one. They just do one at a time which is probably good so that I don't constantly buy wine online.
Everything Else I tend to go through
through
http://amazon.com
as their prices tend to be near the best
and their customer service is excellent. If you can find a deal on
Amazon Prime (watch slickdeals.net) then 2 day shipping is free. They have
massively expanded beyond books and you can get just about anything
there now. For any kind of media (books, dvd, cd) I just order on
amazon but buy used from someone with good feedback.
If you buy
new through amazon you and it goes down in price in 30 days they will
match the price. That is great but it is hard to track yourself,
fortunately the internet provides a
solution
here
where you just put in the item, date, price and email and they will
email you if the price goes down. I have gotten money back that way,
it's great.
Finding the best deal with a little more time:
If you are looking for something else you can still quickly find out if you can get a good deal on the net with a reputable merchant by running through a couple of quick steps.
- Work out exactly what you want (if you don't already know):
is a good place to figure out what you want. They have a good search tool and looking at user reviews is probably the best way to get a sense if the product is any good.
- For various 'high-tech' type items look at: http://cnet.com for their various product buying guides and reviews
- Digital camera knowledge is all about looking at http://dpreview.com
- A general rating site http://www.eopinions.com can help you find reviews of just about anything.
- Find out the range of prices it is going for on the internet:
- Check out the merchant http://www.resellerratings.com and see how other peoples experiences stack up.
Super Deals
http://slickdeals.net is a great place to find really out of control deals on random things. People work out combinations of coupons, rebates, pricematching, etc, to get some truely good deals. I tend to check them out every couple of days.
Amazon.com
Credit is a more interesting topic than I could ever imagine. Good thing given my current job.
